Completing Preparations and Exercises

The guide below details important aspects for properly completing individual activities.

The walkthrough below uses a preparation activity as an example, but the steps highlighted apply to all learning activities (e.g. Preparations, Exercises, Collaborations, and Corequisite Lessons & Practice Problems).

Step 1. The image below is the landing page in RealizeIt for the unit clicked (in this example, Unit 1.2: Seven Billion and Counting). Click the Learning Map at the bottom right.

Step 2. In this example, I will work through doing the assignment Preparation 1.2. To start, I can click the Learn button beneath the node for Preparation 1.2.

After you fully complete an assignment, you will see the node on the Learning Map change based on your performance. Aim to get the nodes all green (or with check/completion marks).

Step 3. When in the activity, you can click Next to reveal new content and questions. This is how you work through the material.

Step 4. Work through the material (e.g. text and questions), always using the Next button. At the end, after answering all questions, click the Close/Finish button at the bottom. You'll then see a page that tells you that your data has been recorded. Click the Close/Finish button again to return to the Learning Map. You will then see the node on the Learning Map change to reflect your performance.

In order to fully complete an activity, it is necessary to execute the following process:

  1. Answer all questions and then click Close/Finish at the bottom of the page.
  2. You'll see an on-screen notification detailing your score. Click Close/Finish again.
  3. You are returned to the unit Learning Map, where you'll see the activity node updated with your score.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you always click all the way through (by clicking Close/Finish at the end) to your Learning Map, via the on-screen message giving you information about your assignment/lesson being recorded. If you close your browser or browser tab before this, or exit the assignment/lesson, your attempt will not be full submitted.

If you want to discard your attempt (which means it will not be submitted), click Exit>Discard progress.

If you want to pause your current attempt to return to later, click Exit>Save for Next Time.
