Course Conclusion

Concluding your course section in a timely manner is vital to the many analyses the Pathways conducts on student success rates.

Why is concluding courses important?

The process of concluding courses involves submitting final student outcomes. These data are vital to the many analyses the Carnegie Math Pathways conducts on student success rates; analyses used in a variety of efficacy reports shared with the network and beyond, and also to inform course and instructional improvements.

Conclude your course

Concluding your section should be done shortly after final grades have been calculated. It is critically important for us to receive the course outcomes so that analyses are not weakened by a small sample size.

Step 1. Log in to your MyPathway account at mypathway.wested.org and click on the Conclude course button beside the appropriate course section.

Step 2. Select the Final status of the students in this section, and then select their Final course grade from the drop down.

If this drop down is empty, it means that your Pathways Facilitator has not entered your grading scheme into the Outcomes tab on their Facilitator Dashboard; please contact them and ask them to do so.

Click Submit outcomes.

If you cannot conclude your course sections for whatever reason, please let your Facilitator know; Facilitators can conclude courses on behalf of faculty.

What happens after I conclude a course section?

You still have access to both the course (for review purposes) and also any associated Productive Persistence reports. After you conclude a course section, it will no longer be listed under Your active courses on your homepage. Instead, if you navigate to Courses>My Courses, and scroll down to Inactive courses, you'll see all past concluded courses listed.

After clicking Course>My Courses and navigating to the Inactive courses list, you have the following options for concluded courses:

  • Click Manage course to access any Productive Persistence reports for the section.
  • Click Launch if the course section is one that was delivered through MyPathway.
  • If the course section was an LTI section (that is, a course section delivered and accessed through your LMS) you can continue to access the course through your LMS after concluding the course in MyPathway, as long as it remains open in your LMS. Your institution may have stipulations around closing courses on the LMS side. If so, access through MyPathway will be made available after course conclusion.
