Creating a Subgroup for Full Class Sessions

Use the Full Class unit for orientation, review, and/or feedback sessions.

All Quantway and Statway courses include a special unit titled "Full/Whole Class Collaboration."

If you are running a fully-online Quantway or Statway course, then you may choose to conduct one or more Full Class Orientation sessions through week 1 of the class using the Full Class Collaboration capability. These sessions are done through the Zoom integration with RealizeIt.

Alternatively, or in addition to the previous, the Full Class Collaboration unit can be used to conduct online review or feedback sessions throughout the term.

IMPORTANT: A Whole Class Collaboration subgroup is automatically created and populated with student enrollments. There is no instructor-side configuration necessary to set up the subgroup.

The Full Class collaboration can be used throughout the term any time you want to bring the full class or some subset of students together online. At the agreed time, students would simply launch into the Full Class Collaboration unit, go into the node, and click the Join meeting button.

Step 3. At the agreed date and time, you and your students should launch into the Full Class Collaboration unit from the LMS class or the MyPathway activities page, and then into the node. Students will see the subgroup tile and they will click Join meeting; instructors will click Start meeting. See below for important information regarding the start & join options for instructors. Upon doing so, a new tab will open and a Zoom session will begin. The session will record automatically.

To update the subgroup with additional students, you can simply click Edit students and then add any new students to the subgroup.

IMPORTANT: On all subgroup tiles, instructors have the option to Start or Join a meeting. Start a meeting means that the instructor will be the meeting host, and that the meeting will end when the instructor leaves. Join a meeting means that the system will be the meeting host, and thus the meeting will continue even if the instructor leaves. Students only see a Join meeting button (as shown below).
